CAMPUS SUMMARY
Spalding University was founded in 1814 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and moved to its current location in Louisville in 1920. The University which is Catholic in tradition, is fully accredited and became co-educational in 1969. In 1984, Spalding changed its status from a college to a university to reflect the scope of its various programs, including its graduate divisions. Spalding's downtown campus sits on the edge of the business/governmental district. Dozens of businesses, medical facilities, the art community, and corporate headquarters are Spalding's neighbors.
